WHO WE ARE

The Mission

In the book of Acts, we see an early church that “did life'“ together - eating together, helping each other, and most importantly, growing with God together. This vision is what stirs us and keeps us going - check it out below!

ACTS 2:42-47

AND THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE APOSTLES' TEACHING AND THE FELLOWSHIP, TO THE BREAKING OF BREAD AND THE PRAYERS.

AND AWE CAME UPON EVERY SOUL, AND MANY WONDERS AND SIGNS WERE BEING DONE THROUGH THE APOSTLES.

AND ALL WHO BELIEVED WERE TOGETHER AND HAD ALL THINGS IN COMMON. AND THEY WERE SELLING THEIR POSSESSIONS AND BELONGINGS AND DISTRIBUTING THE PROCEEDS TO ALL, AS ANY HAD NEED

AND DAY BY DAY, ATTENDING THE TEMPLE TOGETHER AND BREAKING BREAD IN THEIR HOMES, THEY RECEIVED THEIR FOOD WITH GLAD AND GENEROUS HEARTS,

PRAISING GOD AND HAVING FAVOR WITH ALL THE PEOPLE. AND THE LORD ADDED TO THEIR NUMBER DAY BY DAY THOSE WHO WERE BEING SAVED.

What makes a2f unique?

Besides all of the UW students that come to A2F, several working professionals play a very active roll here, providing mentorship to students. Spiritual, academic, or career advice - whatever you need, our mentors are happy to help, being a little further ahead in this thing called life!

Stories

We all have such different stories and backgrounds. Some of us grew up in church and went to VBS every summer, some of us had never even heard of Jesus, and others wanted nothing to do with God and the Church. The crazy thing is that God personally intercepted each one of us, at such different places in our lives. Here's how Jesus Christ has transformed us.

My whole life, I've tried my best to be a "good Christian"— I went to church regularly, prayed before my meals, and took up leadership positions in my high school's Christian club. Coming into college, I wanted to find a Christian fellowship partly because it was what was expected of me.

I grew up going to church but didn't think much about it — it was part of my weekly routine, where I sang songs and was lectured about things that are morally good to do. But I didn't really try to connect with anyone there. Going into college, I was worried that I was going to be lonely and wouldn't be able to find any friends to hangout with, being so far away from home.

For me coming into college, I had a shallow understanding of Christianity from my past experiences with church in high school. For a while, I still had an immense feeling of apathy towards everything in life and felt like my life had no purpose. My sophomore year, I began to genuinely seek God and see how He calls me to live.
